Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, the RN Emergency nurse administers patient care in an emergency or inpatient/observation setting, providing active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on patient responses, evaluating progress towards expected outcomes.
  2. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Act as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills for the patient population served.
  5. Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician as needed.
  6. Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective planning and management.
  7. Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
  8. Apply knowledge of growth and development to assess patient data and identify needs based on age-specific requirements.
  9. Coordinate patient care and delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
  10. Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medications, treatments, and safety measures, meeting all standards.
  11. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use specific to the unit/department.
  12. Prioritize patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  13. Identify and resolve problems effectively.
  14. Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicate patient conditions and unit concerns to team members.
  16. Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environments for patients and families.
  17. Be aware of legal issues and patient rights.
  18. Collaborate with education and leadership to support new staff and students.
  19. Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
  20. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  21. Contribute to professional development and organizational quality improvement through participation in committees, peer reviews, mentoring, and coaching.
  22. Use supplies efficiently and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  23. Attend staff development, meetings, and participate in identifying professional growth needs.
  24. Take responsibility for ongoing professional education.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Training: Graduate from an approved nursing program, meeting all competency requirements for Baptist Health, Orlando Health, and the specific department.

Licensure/Certification: Maintain current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate license, along with BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. Additional certifications like ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas, with NRP necessary for NICU.
