About the unit

The Emergency Department at Pennock Hospital is a 12-bed, level 3 trauma center that handles a variety of emergency medical situations. Patients cared for here include those with animal bites, seizures, broken bones, drug overdoses, and burns.

Scope of work

Provides responsible and accountable nursing care as defined by the ANA and Michigan law, demonstrating competency through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds professional standards including ethical practice, cultural competence, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health. Strives for optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years
  • Michigan RN license required
  • AHA or ARC BLS certification required within 90 days
  • AHA ACLS certification required within 6 months
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) from ENA or equivalent, 1-year experience required
