Position Summary

Position Summary

Administers patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting, providing active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessments.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assesses patient needs and develops or revises individualized care plans based on patient responses, evaluating progress towards expected outcomes.
  2. Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Acts as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills.
  5. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician.
  6. Collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective planning and management.
  7. Supports hospital and nursing goals by serving as a role model.
  8. Demonstrates understanding of growth and development principles, assessing patient data to meet age-specific needs.
  9. Coordinates care and delegates tasks appropriately within the team.
  10. Documents patient care accurately, including assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety measures.
  11. Maintains competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
  12. Prioritizes patient care according to Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  13. Identifies and resolves problems effectively.
  14. Delegates tasks based on patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicates patient condition and unit concerns to team members.
  16. Provides compassionate, therapeutic care environment for patients and families.
  17. Maintains awareness of legal issues and patient rights.
  18. Supports new staff and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
  19. Maintains regular, punctual attendance per organizational policies and standards.
  20. Ensures compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.

  22. Participates in or leads committees on nursing practice and performance improvement.

Qualifications

Education/Training: Graduate of an approved nursing school, meeting all competency requirements for Baptist Health, Orlando Health, and the specific unit.

Licensure/Certification: Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate license; current BLS certification; ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications as required, especially for NICU.
