Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, the RN administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention care.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on patient responses. Evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes.
  2. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and patients.
  3. Act as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills for the patient population served.
  5. Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician as appropriate.
  6. Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to plan and manage patient care effectively.
  7. Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing department goals.
  8. Apply principles of growth and development, assess patient status data, and interpret information to meet individual age-specific needs.
  9. Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately to team members.
  10. Document patient care accurately and in compliance with standards, including assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety measures.
  11. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use specific to the unit/department.
  12. Prioritize patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  13. Identify and resolve problems effectively.
  14. Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team members’ capabilities.
  15. Communicate patient condition and unit concerns clearly to team members.
  16. Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environments for patients and families.
  17. Be aware of legal issues and patients’ rights.
  18. Support new team members and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
  19. Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and regulations.
  20. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  21. Contribute to team knowledge, skill development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  22. Participate in or lead nursing practice and performance improvement committees.
  23. Engage in peer review, mentoring, and professional development activities.
  24. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, practicing resource efficiency.
  25. Attend staff development, departmental, and committee meetings.
  26. Partner with leadership to identify and pursue professional development needs.
  27. Take responsibility for ongoing professional growth and education.
  28. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Training: Graduate of an approved nursing program. Must meet all competency requirements for Baptist Health, Orlando Health, and the specific unit/department.

Licensure/Certification: Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. Additional certifications such as ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required in certain areas; NRP is required for NICU.
