Overview

We’re looking for compassionate and caring Nursing Assistants to be a key part of the patient care journey at Royal Manchester Children\'s Hospital. Our Nursing Assistants take pride in delivering high quality, patient-focused care and supporting patients and families day in, day out.

You\'ll communicate in a sensitive and compassionate manner with patients, relatives, and members of the multi-disciplinary team, working flexibly across day and night shifts over 7 days a week. Posts are available in Paediatric Theatre, Outpatients Department, Medical, Surgical and Oncology areas.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Nursing team under supervision of Registered Nurses within Trust guidelines and protocols to deliver excellent patient care.
  • Support patients with personal care needs including mobilising, toileting, bathing, dressing, eating and drinking.
  • Undertake a range of delegated, clinical care duties after training, including recording patient observations and noting changes in patient clinical conditions.
Development and progression
  • On the Job Training Opportunities: If you are new to healthcare, participate in the Support Worker Development Programme for Nursing Assistants to develop knowledge and skills.
  • Completion of the Support Worker Development Programme provides an opportunity to progress into a Band 3 Nursing Assistant role.
  • For experienced Nursing Assistants, a skills analysis will be conducted on start to determine eligibility for a Band 3 post; gaps can be addressed through relevant clinical modules to support progression on completion. Evidence of prior learning will be reviewed and considered.
