Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday

Job Summary:

Responsible to the Director of Health and Wellbeing for the development and management of Health & Wellbeing (H&W) policy and national clinical compliance within the area of addictions delivery. Responsible for the implementation of the Safeguarding Policy and providing clinical advice regarding all addictions-related casework.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Holistically assess needs, design, develop, and implement a robust delivery plan ensuring best practice and efficiency for all Addictions interventions nationally within with eligible beneficiaries.
  • Triage,assess and coordinate needs in support of eligible beneficiaries, make external referrals, and contribute towards an inclusive delivery model regardless of geography or local support.
  • Manage the planning and implementation of all Addiction delivery on an ongoing basis, reporting areas of need to the Director of Health and Wellbeing and where directed the Health & Wellbeing Committee.
  • Provide line management to staff within pillar of Veterans Mental Health delivery
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to the Royal Marines Family community from a preventive and promotional perspective in accordance with current national guidelines.
  • Advise colleagues on managing individuals experiencing addictive behaviours.
  • Offer educational briefs to charity staff and affiliated charity teams and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with the RMA-TRMC record-keeping policy and process..
  • Develop professional working relationships with other addiction providers to ensure beneficiaries access most appropriate organisations nationally.
  • Adhere to own professional Codes of Conduct and charity policies and values.
  • Complete initial holistic assessments and associated clinical/addiction specialist audits, formulate work plans with beneficiaries, and develop recovery plans based on their specific needs.
  • Work with both internal and external partners to support recovery and wellbeing.
  • Lead the addictions pillar within the Health and Wellbeing team and collaborate with the wider Veterans Mental Health delivery pillar.
  • Navigate beneficiaries through complex systems and varied services across the UK.
  • Participate in CPD training as required.

Building and Strengthening Partnerships:

  • Build strong relationships with NHS OP Courage services, devolved Nations equivalent services, service charities, and local authority addiction services.
  • Forge partnership agreements and consider funded options to support timely recovery of beneficiaries.
  • Collaborate with the wider Health and Wellbeing Team in all areas of delivery.
  • Consider volunteer peer support and collaborate with external organisations for interventions, treatment, or rehabilitation.

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Oversee the performance and professional development of team members, ensuring they meet their objectives and maintain high standards of practice.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, appraisals, and performance reviews with direct reports.
  • Support team members in their professional development by identifying training needs and facilitating access to relevant training opportunities.
  • Ensure effective communication within the team and foster a supportive and collaborative working environment.

Training and Development:

  • Deliver educational briefs to the serving community to raise awareness around addiction.
  • Provide enhanced training to charity staff and volunteers to support recovery activities and relapse prevention.
  • Build the confidence of staff and volunteers in supporting those with addictions.

Communication and ‘Warm Signposting’:

  • Develop communications for social media and website platforms to educate and strengthen recovery.
  • Create impactful campaigns, regular educative posts, and share links to partners and collaborators.
  • Implement ‘Warm Signposting’ by staying with beneficiaries until they are fully supported by trusted organisations.
  • Foster collaboration among external organisations supporting those with addictive behaviours.

Professional Knowledge and Skills:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse/Social Worker/Addiction Therapist
  • Addictions qualification and/or experience with addictions work
  • Effective line management and communication
  • Understanding of the Royal Marines and the wider Corps Family
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building ability
  • Ability to prioritise workflow and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365
  • Knowledge of data protection and database record-keeping
  • Addictions experience in a Military environment

Additional Information:Due to the nature of the charity work, some weekend work may be requested. This will be pre-arranged and time off in lieu agreed prior.
