Individuals recruited to the RM Medicines team will be supported to provide expert care to oncology patients and will benefit from training and learning experiences working closely with an institute providing outstanding, leading-edge treatment to cancer patients.

This post would suit a candidate with community pharmacy experience wishing to transition into the hospital environment, for which appropriate training will be provided.

  2. To assist with general administrative duties including receiving prescriptions from patients and staff, and over-the-counter sales of pharmacy medicines under supervision.
  3. To work with customers in a polite and efficient manner—face-to-face, over the phone, or electronically—to deal with routine enquiries from various staff groups, referring appropriate queries to the relevant pharmacy team member. Taking orders and responding within the limits of knowledge, responsibilities, and legal requirements.
  4. To dispense medicines for patients under the general direction of a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist, including controlled drugs, ensuring records are maintained in accordance with SOPs.

RM Medicines was established by the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust as a separate entity to provide outpatient pharmacy services focused on the safe and efficient supply of medicines.

The Royal Marsden is a specialist cancer hospital, ranked among the top five cancer centers worldwide for research impact, in partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research. It is renowned for groundbreaking research, innovative cancer treatments, and excellence in diagnosis and education.

Recruits will receive a bespoke induction, including a BOPA Cancer introductory course, to provide expert care to oncology patients in the outpatient setting.

If interested in career development, opportunities include internal and external courses, with qualified assistants potentially enrolling in the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Training Programme after successful probation.

Benefits offered to RMM employees include:

  • RM Medicines Reward Scheme
  • Reimbursement of GPhC registration fees
  • Online GP services
  • Eye test reimbursement
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Interest-free season ticket loan
  • Blue Light Card discounts
