The Data Science Analyst is responsible for developing applications, tools, and models that generate actions and insights from Hertz’s observational data. Collaborating with management, analytics, and the data science team, the analyst will build descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models to maximize profit and maintain a competitive edge.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee training and competency development within the data science department, establishing best practices and standards. Initiate programs to improve departmental performance, revenue growth, and achievement of business targets.
- Build and manage data tables supporting data collection, integration, visualization, dashboards, predictive analytics, and data mining.
- Utilize data science tools and techniques to analyze large datasets, developing models and algorithms to uncover insights, trends, and patterns for informed decision-making.
- Create data science platforms for testing advanced analytics, behavioral modeling, and churn prediction to generate revenue.
- Design and architect data processing pipelines, driving data collection and refinement of existing data sources.
- Lead the development of new insights, modeling techniques, and data science capabilities within the department.
- Mentor data scientists and analysts in best practices for data preparation, analysis, coding, and modeling.
What We’re Looking For:
Educational Background:
- Degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Economics.
- Graduate degree preferred but not required if experience is sufficient.
Required Experience:
- Designing relational database systems and data lakes/meshes.
- Pattern recognition, statistical modeling, data exploration, visualization, and mining.
- Experience with SQL Server, Teradata, Cloud (AWS), Databricks, Delta Lakes.
- Proficiency in MS SQL Server, Apache Spark, SQL (T-SQL, Spark SQL), Python, and PySpark.
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking with a proven record of diagnosing and solving complex problems.
