Job summary

Cartan Trade in London is seeking a Risk Underwriter to join the Northern Europe Risk team. You will underwrite and monitor UK and export risks to support profitable growth in a modern, agile credit insurer environment.

You will analyse financial information, review complex structures, and communicate underwriting decisions clearly with brokers and clients.

This role requires at least 2 years in credit analysis or risk underwriting and a degree in business, economics or finance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in credit analysis or risk underwriting.
• Strong ability to analyse financial information and complex financial structures.
• Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external partners.
• Proficient working knowledge of MS Office.
• Degree preferred in business, economics or finance.

Cartan Trade is a fast-growing European trade credit insurance scale-up, shaking up the conventions of a traditional industry with a modern and agile approach, with already a presence in France, Italy, Netherlands and the UK. Cartan Trade is currently recruiting for a Risk Underwriter to join our team in London. The successful candidate will be part of the Northern Europe Risk team, underwriting and monitoring both UK and export risks with the view to supporting Cartan Trade’s profitable growth.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring companies (“buyers”); proactively reviewing buyer information and system-generated alerts with the view to keeping our risk stance updated
• Produce ad-hoc internal documentation to analyse, discuss and validate risk strategy on sensitive buyers
• Ad-hoc meeting with buyers to collect financial and non-financial information
• Underwriting credit limits for clients and prospects, for whole turnover, top up or single risk enquiries
• Attending ad-hoc meetings with brokers, prospects and/or clients
• Monitoring industry, economic and political trends, both in the UK and abroad

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a credit analysis and/or risk underwriting role, ideally in credit insurance
• Strong ability to analyse financial information and complex financial corporate structures, provide synthesis with the view to recommend and/or take underwriting decisions
• Ability to communicate clearly with both internal and external partners
• Proficient working knowledge of MS Office
• Degree standard of education preferred, ideally in a business, economics or financial discipline
