Overview:
The Risk Manager, Operational, is a 1st line Operational Risk role, reporting to the Head of CASS & Operational Risk. You’ll focus on building and embedding an effective Operational Risk Framework across the MUFG Corporate Markets business, which includes share registration and employee share plans.
You’ll need a strong understanding of both operational processes and risk management within financial services as the role forms a key part of the wider MUFG Corporate Markets risk oversight framework, collaborating with a variety of stakeholders across MUFG Pension & Market Services.
Ideally, you’ll be based on a hybrid basis from our stunning city centre office in Leeds, which is a short walk from the train station and on major bus route, including the Park & Ride route.

What you need:
As with any role, we want to find the right person and we want to make sure you know it’s the right role for you too. You will need:
• Demonstrable experience within a financial services environment, with an ability to collaborate across multiple teams
• Risk or compliance oversight experience, with a good understanding of process analysis, risk mitigation and control design from an operations, risk or audit perspective
• An ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including peers and senior leadership
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen and articulate information effectively
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of processes, share registry and share dealing
• An ability to think and work independently and autonomously
• The confidence to challenge at all levels of the business whilst influencing outcomes
• A strong client focussed attitude with an exceptional customer service ethic
• An exceptional ability to apply practical thinking and use data to solve business problems
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel and Word
Day to Day, you will:
• Analyse procedures and process flows in order to identify key controls and ensure that updates consider risk implications
• Maintain a matrix of Control Self Assessments with input from the operational teams, developing Quality Assurance and Quality Control checks with prescribed frequencies
• Work alongside operation teams to ensure that risk is built into operational change, including projects, product launches and client onboarding/offboarding
• Develop and maintain an Operational Risk Framework that supports the control of processes across operational teams and embeds the communication of a risk culture
• Review audit actions, errors, risk events and complaints and feed these back into the Risk Framework so that opportunities for process improvement are identified
• Assist with 2nd line reviews and internal and external audits as required, coordinating the completion of actions and reporting on outstanding actions
• Assist with the management of 3rd party suppliers and vendors in line with MUFG Pension & Market Services policies and set up of a vendor risk framework
• Assist with the production of reports for onward reporting to various oversight committees and forums
