Job description

As the Risk Manager Lead for MetricStream within the Systems team, you’ll be the product manager of the MetricStream Governance, Risk and Compliance system (spanning Risk Management, Compliance and Policy applications). Leading a small team, you’ll also be supporting the wider business as systems expert and be seen as a trusted partner to champion the use of the system and good risk management practices.

This role sits within the Enterprise Risk team within the Risk Function, which is responsible for the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), Risk Reporting, Business Operations and Risk Professional Practices. We are leading our thinking on building a strategic joined-up view of the enterprise risks facing the Society.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Bournemouth or London offices. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

A typical day will include working with the team to maintain, develop and promote the use of MetricStream. This could include anything from:

  • Identifying, analysing and evaluating system change requests, and managing the change roadmap, including managing the day to day supplier interactions
  • Championing the system across the business, and ensuring readiness to adopt changes and functionality
  • Delivering training and building awareness of the system and its capabilities
  • Overseeing interactions / data flows with upstream and downstream systems and applications
  • Managing a small team of system focused risk analysts and managing day to day supplier interactions
  • Leading the MetricStream Platform Change Forum and representing MetricStream viewpoints in other risk areas (e.g. Risk Practitioners Working Group)

Of course, as a manager of a small team, we’ll also need you to help motivate and inspire your team members.

About you

Essential measurable experience:

  • Previous experience of managing a GRC tool and/or systems management experience backed up with strong risk management knowledge
  • Demonstrable experience of providing subject matter expertise and presenting this to non-technical stakeholders
  • Have outstanding organisational skills, be able to understand competing requirements and implement plans to deliver against them
  • The ability to work collaboratively, with strong relationship building and influencing skills and the confidence to communicate up to senior stakeholders (e.g. ExCo-1)
  • Experience leading/coaching a small team

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
