Job Description Summary
The Risk Manager will oversee the alignment of project and portfolio risk management and contingency planning across GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage businesses in North Europe.
This role focuses on proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, ensuring that contingency reserves are effectively aligned to mitigate potential impacts on cost, schedule, and scope.
The successful candidate will lead cross-functional efforts to integrate risk and contingency alignment into bid development, project planning, and execution phases, driving informed decision-making and operational excellence.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:

Risk & Contingency Planning:
  • Develop, implement and monitor robust Risk Management and Contingency Planning processes across project, portfolio, and organizational levels.
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure risks are identified during the bid and execution phases, and reflected in cost and schedule baselines.
  • Develop, monitor and adjust contingency plans to address identified risks, ensuring alignment with organizational risk appetite and project goals, and the evolving risk landscape.
  • Act as a key advisor to project teams, PMO and leadership on risk and contingency alignment strategies.

Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed risk and contingency registers for projects and portfolios, ensuring risks are tracked and mitigation progress is documented.
  • Develop and deliver regular reports to senior leadership, highlighting risk exposure, contingency utilization, and mitigation effectiveness.
  • Use data-driven insights to recommend proactive actions and improve risk-contingency alignment.

Continuous Improvement and Training:
  • Lead initiatives to enhance risk and contingency alignment practices, incorporating lessons learned from completed projects.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on risk assessment, contingency planning, and risk-contingency integration.
  • Promote a culture of proactive risk management, emphasizing the value of contingency alignment in achieving project success.

Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, contingency planning, and project controls in complex, multi-project environments, and across bid development, project planning, and execution phases.
  • Proficiency in risk management tools and techniques, including Monte Carlo simulations, @Risk, or similar software.
  • Knowledge of project management and controls systems (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP).

Desired Characteristics:
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and foster alignment on risk strategies.
  • Experience in training and mentoring project teams on risk and contingency alignment.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 standards and industry best practices for risk management.

Work Environment:

This role is based on site in the Power Conversion & Storage facility in Rugby, and occasional travel may be required to engage with customers, suppliers, support project teams, and collaborate with regional offices in the UK (Portsmouth, Glasgow, Leicester, Swansea).
