Qualifications

About the Role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Risk Manager to join our Scotland Energy Delivery Unit, supporting the delivery of our major offshore energy programme.

Working closely with the and Project Management Teams, you will play a key role in implementing and delivering the Project Risk Management Strategy, helping our teams identify, assess, respond to and monitor programme and project risk.

You’ll work collaboratively with Project Teams, Risk Owners, commercial leadership, our customer and other key stakeholders, ensuring robust risk management is embedded throughout programme delivery. The role will also support key financial reporting, forecasting and commercial decision-making.

What you'll be doing

As Risk Manager, you will:

  • Support the Scotland Energy Delivery Unit leadership team in developing and implementing the risk management strategy, approach and reporting cadence across the offshore programme.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, response and ongoing monitoring of project and programme risks.
  • Facilitate risk workshops across multiple project packages.
  • Undertake Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA) and Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) and associated risk modelling.
  • Incorporate project assumptions, dependencies and constraints into risk analysis and regular reporting.
  • Support commercial teams with risk information for pricing, forecasting and contractual risk-sharing arrangements, including projects operating under NEC contracts.
  • Provide guidance and support to Risk Owners in the consistent assessment of risks and development of appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and deliver risk management training to Project Teams, Risk Owners and Action Owners.
  • Develop Project Risk Management Plans where required for individual work packages.
  • Produce and deliver risk reports for internal management teams and the Customer.
  • Work closely with the Customer's risk management team to ensure alignment of approach and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate across Balfour Beatty and with key subcontractors and third parties to ensure risk is understood, documented and effectively managed.
  • Help embed risk management as a fundamental part of project culture, processes and controls.
Who we're looking for

We’re looking for someone with strong project and programme risk management experience, ideally gained within major infrastructure, energy or another complex project environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working in a project-based risk management role across a complex, large-scale programme of works.
  • Experience of QCRA and QSRA and the ability to undertake quantitative risk analysis and modelling.
  • Experience using recognised risk management systems, such as Active Risk Manager (ARM) or similar.
  • A strong understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) processes, controls and methodologies.
  • Experience working across large-scale, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge or experience of NEC contracts would be advantageous.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with senior management.
  • Experience facilitating risk workshops and delivering training.
  • The ability to build strong relationships across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal reporting skills.
  • A proactive, self-starting approach with the ability to manage your own workload.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • A degree-level qualification would be preferable.
