Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Risk expert to join the corporate governance team at QVH, a forward-thinking and patient-centered organisation. In this role, you will provide professional advice and support related to risk management, act as a subject matter expert, and lead the implementation of our new Risk Management Framework. Your efforts will help embed effective risk management across the Trust to support our ambitions and objectives.

The Risk Management Specialist will oversee processes and systems for the Board Assurance Framework, the Organisational Risk Register, and Local Risk Registers. You will work closely with the Board, Executive Team, Directorates, Corporate functions, and Business Units to ensure effective risk management practices.

Key responsibilities include leading the implementation of the risk management framework, including defining risk appetite, fostering a risk-aware culture, and ensuring consistent application of the framework in line with governance standards. You will also lead risk reporting, ensuring high-quality reports and data are provided to the Board, Committees, and other stakeholders, utilizing the Trust’s risk management software.

QVH is rated GOOD overall with outstanding care by the CQC. It is a specialist NHS hospital providing reconstructive surgery, burns care, and rehabilitation services across the South of England. The hospital specializes in conditions of the eyes, hands, head and neck cancer, skin cancer, reconstructive breast surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and prosthetics, offering regional and national services. The hospital also provides a minor injuries unit, therapies, sleep services, and community-based services, with patients rating it among the top hospitals in the country for quality of care.
