Overview

The position of Life Sciences and Technology risk control consulting director will be recognised as the most senior level, technical expert in Life Sciences and Technology risk control for CNA Hardy. The individual contributor will be responsible for the overall assessment, evaluation and delivery of risk control consulting services and technical support on the most complex risk exposures to support the Life Sciences and Technology business underwriting profit. In conjunction with senior level management, the person will work within the broadest limits of authority requiring the highest degree of technical complexity and coordination for the Life Sciences and Technology business areas. The candidate will have European Life Sciences and Technology risk control responsibility.

Responsibilities
  • Perform workplace/work site risk evaluation and consultative risk improvement services on the most complex and/or sophisticated Life Sciences and Technology accounts.
  • Conduct loss analysis on individual accounts or designated book of business for Life Sciences and Technology to identify root cause, trends and emerging issues, and develop business solutions and training materials to educate internal and external Life Sciences and Technology customers as appropriate.
  • Assess the Life Sciences and Technology customer risk control program needs and develop and execute a customized strategy and supporting implementation plan. Manage the delivery of direct evaluative and consultative services, which may include project management of outsourced solutions.
  • Partner with underwriting, claims and other areas to provide information for risk evaluation and assessment on the most complex and/or sophisticated Life Sciences and Technology risks.
  • Participate with senior management in the development and implementation of risk control policy, marketing and business strategy for the Life Sciences and Technology business.
  • Provide account coordination of risk control services for multinational insured accounts, for the Life Sciences and Technology business, including close collaboration with US Risk Control for Life Sciences and Technology.
  • Identify opportunities for and/or develop new products and services for the Life Sciences and Technology business.
  • Be a member of the global Centres of Expertise for Life Sciences and Technology.
  • Provide expertise in the loss control activities for Life Sciences and Technology.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical competency on Life Sciences and Technology risk control issues and regulations, industry activity and trends.
Qualifications
  • The highest level of Life Sciences / Technology technical and product-specific expertise, risk control evaluation and assessment skills and knowledge of insurance and risk control principles, practices and procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to travel across our global business.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, marketing and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues.
  • Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.
  • Ability to achieve results by taking a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
  • Education and Experience: Master\'s degree or equivalent in Life Sciences or Technology, with one or more professional designations preferred (including CSci, CEng, CISM or CISA). A minimum of ten years of risk control insurance experience in the Life Sciences / Technology area, with a proven track record of results.
