Job Description:

A highly regarded professional services firm with a strong presence in the UK, Europe, and the US is looking for an experienced Risk & Compliance Officer to join them on a part-time basis (3-4 days per week). You would be joining the London-based team in a newly created role, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for a proactive individual to take ownership of risk management and regulatory compliance, working closely with stakeholders across the organisation to implement best-practice procedures.

With a direct reporting line to the Managing Partner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our approach to client onboarding, data protection, and regulatory adherence. While your primary focus will be on our UK operations, you will also ensure compliance across their international offices. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a dedicated Risk & Compliance role within a law firm and should be confident in implementing new procedures and capable of working independently while fostering strong relationships across the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the firm’s regulatory obligations, ensuring full compliance and managing interactions with external regulatory bodies.
  2. Review and refine client onboarding processes, including anti-money laundering (AML) checks, conflict assessments, and due diligence.
  3. Manage professional indemnity insurance, maintaining records, ensuring compliance, and serving as the key point of contact.
  4. Maintain and update the firm’s risk register, implementing mitigation strategies and identifying emerging risks.
  5. Develop and standardise internal templates, business terms, and operational procedures.
  6. Design and deliver risk and compliance training for employees at all levels.

Skills/Experience:

  1. Possesses a strong understanding of risk management, compliance, client onboarding, and AML regulations.
  2. Has excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and diverse teams.
  3. Is comfortable working across multiple locations and time zones, demonstrating strong multitasking abilities in high-pressure situations.
  4. Has a client-focused mindset and is committed to providing outstanding service both internally and externally.
  5. Is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and organised, with a proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving.

This is a permanent part-time role (3-4 days) and you will be required to be in their London office for 2/4 days per week.

If you are a skilled compliance professional looking for a role where you can make a tangible impact while enjoying flexibility in your working pattern, we would love to hear from you.
