Risk Business Partner - Retail Banking - mortgages, savings - £60,000-£70,000
The client has a fantastic opportunity for a Risk Business Partner to provide high-quality risk input on matters relating to business strategy, new products, change initiatives, risk committee papers, risk registers, and incidents as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand the strategic aims of the business areas you support, along with the day-to-day context of doing business.
- Facilitate the risk register process for partnered functions, including risk identification, control design, risk assessment based on control effectiveness, and guide through risk acceptance and mitigation processes when necessary.
- Support and challenge the business in identifying, defining, and setting appropriate risk and control thresholds, including Board Risk Appetite metrics.
- Support the business in defining good customer outcomes and advocate for the customer.
- Review and challenge risk forum and committee papers, proposals, policies, processes, and governance methodologies.
- Educate and coach partnered business areas on core risk methodologies, governance requirements, and use of the Risk Management system.
- Encourage engagement with other risk specialisms such as Data Governance, Information Security, and Supplier Management.
- Understand the change agenda, represent the second line on key projects, and provide challenge on impacts to the risk and control environment.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience in the financial services industry and/or a technology-based service provider.
- Risk specialist in Conduct risk, with knowledge of Credit, Operational, and Financial risks.
- Understanding of FCA and legal requirements related to conduct within consumer finance.
- Knowledge of Consumer Duty, the new Consumer Principles, Cross-cutting rules, and four Outcomes.
- Experience developing and monitoring risk appetite proposals for senior management/board review, and reviewing business risk profiles.
- Experience with risk frameworks and ensuring strong risk governance.
- Developing, reviewing, and challenging Credit, Conduct, and Operational risks.
- Developing engagement strategies with key partners to communicate risks and resolutions.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and influencing skills to work effectively with the business.
