Risk and Compliance Manager
Manchester
Hybrid Working (1 day remote)

We're currently working with a leading top 100 full-service law firm in Manchester, with a strong presence across the North West and London. They are looking to add a Risk and Compliance Manager to their team.

This is a newly created role in a growing firm, supporting the Risk and Compliance Director & COLP, leading a team of Compliance Analysts, and acting as the first point of contact for all compliance queries across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and manage the compliance mailbox, overseeing the team of analysts to ensure timely and effective query resolution.
  2. Lead file review and internal audit processes.
  3. Advise on ad hoc risk and compliance matters across departments.
  4. Collaborate with the internal solutions team to design and implement compliance processes (e.g., client and matter risk assessments).
  5. Review agreements to ensure regulatory compliance.
  6. Maintain and develop key documents such as the firm’s compliance plan, risk register, and departmental risk assessments.
  7. Take ownership of specific policies and procedures within the team.
  8. Deliver training sessions on compliance issues to support wider business understanding and adherence.
  9. Support the Risk & Compliance Director with complaints handling processes, including overseeing the firm’s complaints function.
About You
  1. 4+ years of legal compliance experience.
  2. Previous line management experience is essential.
  3. Strong working knowledge of the legal compliance landscape.
  4. Experience in complaints handling or a demonstrable understanding of complaints procedures.
