Risk and Compliance Manager
Manchester
Hybrid Working

We're currently working with a leading law firm in Manchester. They have a strong presence across the North West and London, and are looking to add a Risk and Compliance Manager to their team.

This is a newly created role in a growing firm, supporting the Risk and Compliance Director & COLP, leading a team of Compliance Analysts, and acting as the first point of contact for all compliance queries across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the compliance mailbox, overseeing the team of analysts to ensure timely and effective query resolution.
  • Lead file review and internal audit processes.
  • Advise on ad hoc risk and compliance matters across departments.
  • Collaborate with the internal solutions team to design and implement compliance processes (e.g., client and matter risk assessments).
  • Review agreements to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain and develop key documents such as the firm’s compliance plan, risk register, and departmental risk assessments.
  • Take ownership of specific policies and procedures as allocated within the team.
  • Deliver training sessions on compliance issues to support wider understanding and adherence.
  • Support the Risk & Compliance Director with complaints handling processes, including oversight of the firm’s complaints function.
About You

This role is ideal for a compliance generalist with experience in a smaller law firm who is looking to progress into a larger, busier firm. Opportunities for learning and support from the Compliance Director are available.

  • 5+ years of legal compliance experience, specifically in a generalist role.
  • Previous line management experience is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of legal compliance.
  • Experience in complaints handling or understanding of complaints procedures (beneficial).
