Risk Analyst
London - Hybrid working (2 days per week in the office)

We're looking for a Risk Analyst to join our 2nd Line Risk function. From Upstream Risk, Regulatory Advice and Compliance Management Information to Privacy and Data Protection, our Risk and Compliance teams keep us one step ahead, always. With links to every part of the business, and the responsibility for keeping people safe and compliant with all regulatory, claims, and underwriting controls, we've got opportunities to develop your skills no matter your specialisation.

What you'll do:

This role will support the Head of Business Risk in their responsibilities by providing data-led insights into operational risk matters, through the analysis of risk metrics, management information, and interaction with key stakeholders.

You will support risk oversight and challenge of Group and business area risk profiles by:

  1. Utilising the Group risk management system, Workiva, to analyze risk actions, events, controls, metrics, and management information for review by the Head of Area.
  2. Collaborating with the business to ensure the completeness and accuracy of risk information within Workiva, including compliance with the Enterprise Risk Strategy & Framework (ERMF) and Risk Management Process Minimum Standards.
  3. Maintaining and improving key 2LoD risk documentation to support decision-making, including the Aggregated Risk Profile and 2LoD Opinion process.
  4. Reviewing and challenging controls and actions to ensure they address identified gaps.
  5. Engaging with wider Risk teams to understand compliance, regulatory, or financial themes affecting risk profiles.
  6. Supporting the management and oversight of DLG's Risk Appetite.
  7. Producing monthly reports on Risk areas for the Operational Risk Committee (ORC), including an overview of the Risk Profile and notable Events and Actions.
  8. Assisting in the review and finalization of papers for committee and governance forums.
  9. Conducting thematic and deep-dive risk reviews to ensure risks are well-articulated, rated, and appropriately addressed.
  10. Collaborating with the Risk Framework team to facilitate activities and provide insight into central Enterprise Risk Management processes.
  11. Offering advice on changes within risk appetite and supporting the development of strong control environments.
  12. Promoting a risk and control culture and increasing risk management awareness within DLG.

Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office.

What you'll need:
  • Experience or understanding of the insurance industry or similar financial services is preferred.
  • Strong numeracy, analytical, and research skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Aware of the balance between risk, control, and growth.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to generate ideas and solve problems.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience conducting thematic risk assurance assessments.
  • Ability to explain complex issues clearly and present technical information effectively.
  • Experience with GRC systems is beneficial.
