Job summary

The Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk is offering a Creative Venue Technician (CVT) apprenticeship at the King's Lynn Corn Exchange Theatre & Cinema. The role involves learning on the job to operate and maintain lighting, sound, video, and staging for live events.

Apprentices will train under the Technical Manager, work across venues, and may progress to full-time employment after successful completion.

Qualifications

• Experience of a concert hall / theatre type environment.
• Experience of operating stage / technical equipment.
• Experience of Sound operation.
• An awareness of Health and Safety law for live venues.
• Some electrical knowledge (PAT Testing).
• Familiarity with ETC, Avolite lighting desks and Yamaha CL5 or similar.
• The ability to communicate effectively.
• A creative and positive approach to problem solving.
• The ability to motivate, train and advise casual staff.
• The ability to develop positive working relationships with incoming companies, hirers and users.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate technical stage equipment (lighting, sound, video and staging).
• Prepare and show cinema films as required.
• Under guidance, ensure events operate within licensing and health and safety legislation.
• Responsible for general housekeeping associated with the technical operation of the venues.
• Carry out building and plant maintenance as required.
• Undertake duties associated with the technical operation and maintenance of the venues as directed by the Technical Manager.
• Carry out all building and fire alarm checks as specified by the Technical Manager.
• Undertake duties associated with the technical operation and maintenance of the venues as directed by the Technical Manager.
