Job summary

Shropshire Council is seeking a Rights of Way Officer to ensure the statutory responsibilities relating to Public Rights of Way are met and to help customers manage routes across land, while identifying opportunities to improve health, wellbeing, and the local environment.

The post holder will update the Definitive Map within a defined area, negotiate landowner maintenance responsibilities, process map alteration applications, maintain statutory registers, and collaborate with landowners,

Qualifications

• Experience of Mapping and Enforcement Law.
• Experience ensuring the Definitive Map and Statement is kept up to date in accordance with Council policies.
• Ability to process, investigate and make recommendations on applications to alter the map and public Rights of Way.

Responsibilities

• Update the Definitive Map of Public Rights of Way within a defined area.
• Negotiate and enforce landowner maintenance responsibilities on the Rights of Way network.
• Process applications to alter the map and public Rights of Way.
• Maintain statutory registers.
