The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully funded, full-time, postgraduate award that enables talented young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The Rhodes Scholarships for the Commonwealth Caribbean offers one scholarship each year. Jamaican citizens are not eligible for the Scholarship for the Commonwealth Caribbean but should apply instead for the Scholarship for Jamaica

What is funded

The Rhodes Scholarship covers Oxford University course fees, as well as providing an annual stipend. Funding duration is dependent on the length of the course, e.g. PhD funding is available for 3 years.

Applicants must:

• be a citizen of one of the following countries that have gained independence from Great Britain (Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. KittsNevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, or Trinidad & Tobago); OR ii. be a Commonwealth Dependent Territories citizen of Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Montserrat, or the Turks and Caicos Islands; OR iii. have a parent who has been domiciled and resident in one or more of these territories for at least five years immediately preceding 1st January in the year of candidature, or, in the event of both being dead, was domiciled and resident in one of these territories for at least five years prior to his or her death.
• have been educated in one or more of the above territories for at least five years between the ages of nine and twenty.
