Job summary

Northampton General Hospital is seeking a full-time consultant rheumatologist to join a team of three full-time colleagues and a part-time partner. The post focuses on outpatient care with 4-5 clinics weekly, helpline support, inpatient advice, and admitting rights as needed.

The department provides a full biologic and chemotherapy service, opportunities in clinical trials, and a special interest aligned with current services.

Qualifications

• MRCP (UK) or equivalent required.
• Completion of specialty training (CST or equivalent) in Rheumatology or Rheumatology and General Medicine, or within 6 months of achieving it.
• Full GMC registration with specialist register, or obtain a relevant CCT or CESR(CP) within 6 months of interview.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient rheumatology care to the catchment population alongside the consultant team and specialist nurses.
• Run 4-5 outpatient clinics a week.
• Support the nurse-led rheumatology helpline.
• Cover the inpatient rheumatology advice service during working hours.
• Take admitting rights for rheumatology patients where required.
