Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Pharmacist (Band 8a) to lead the rheumatology pharmacy service. You will provide specialist clinical pharmacy support within a multidisciplinary Rheumatology team and deliver pharmacist-led clinics, ensuring safe and cost-effective medicine use.

You will work as an independent prescriber managing a defined patient caseload, develop policies, monitor NICE guidance, and mentor staff to support professional development within the MEC Division.

Qualifications

• MPharm Degree (4 years) or equivalent.
• Member GPhC and registration with the GPhC.
• Postgraduate clinical diploma/qualification (or equivalent NHS hospital experience).
• Non-medical Prescriber (to be undertaken on appointment if not already a registered NMP).
• Evidence of CPD.
• Membership of the Royal College of Pharmacy (prev. Royal Pharmaceutical Society).

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver an advanced specialist pharmaceutical care service to patients within the rheumatology service.
• Lead the development of the Rheumatology pharmacy service including pharmacist-led clinics and monitoring.
• Maintain clinical competencies and support the Clinical Pharmacy team on wards or in the dispensary.
• Assist in development of policies, guidelines and pathways.
• Monitor compliance with NICE guidance and TA's, and other guidelines.
• Undertake quality improvement and/or research.
• Work with the homecare pharmacist to manage medicines in homecare.
• Ensure safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines in Rheumatology.
