Job summary

Novanta in Stockport, Greater Manchester seeks an RF Engineer to advance RF power systems for laser technologies. You will design RF electronics for laser excitation, develop amplifiers, and conduct thorough RF testing and prototyping within a multidisciplinary team.

You will work on prototypes, PCB layouts, schematics, and BOMs, translating measured data into practical product improvements while supporting manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (MSc advantageous).
• Practical RF development experience.
• Experience taking products from concept through production.
• Strong RF amplifier knowledge.
• Expertise in HF/VHF systems.
• PCB design and RF layout experience.
• Understanding of FCC and CE compliance requirements.
• Strong experimental and analytical problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design RF electronics for laser excitation systems.
• Develop next-generation RF amplifiers from concept through production.
• Conduct RF testing, measurement and characterisation.
• Design prototypes and experimental test equipment.
• Create schematics, PCB layouts and BOMs.
• Analyse performance data and translate results into improvements.
• Support manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Identify and evaluate emerging RF technologies and components.
