Job summary

Octagon Group in Cambridge, England, is seeking an Engineering Technician with hands-on experience in electronics, RF and manufacturing to support design, assembly and testing of high‑performance RF products.

You will work with RF, electronics, software and mechanical engineers to move prototypes to production, perform soldering, PCB rework, wiring harness assembly, and contribute to lab maintenance and data recording.

Qualifications

• Practical engineering experience in electronics, RF, manufacturing or similar technical environment.
• Experience with soldering and PCB rework, able to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Basic test automation or scripting, preferably Python or MATLAB; experience with cable/wiring harness assembly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support RF and electronic testing and measurement using equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, signal generators and power meters.
• Perform soldering, PCB rework and component replacement; assist with cable/wiring harness assembly.
• Support mechanical assembly, prototype builds and development using 3D printing and CNC equipment.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, record test results and data, and assist engineers to resolve technical issues.
