Job summary

Plextek, based just south of Cambridge, is seeking a senior RF electronics engineer to design, build and test RF-based systems for radios, radars and sensors. The role emphasizes explaining technical matters to non-technical customers and working within a state-of-the-art electronics lab.

You will join a diverse team delivering exciting projects, from concept to verification, with a hybrid work pattern (3 days in the office) and opportunities for technical and career progression.

Qualifications

• 6+ years post‑graduate experience in RF circuit design (radios/radars).
• Experience taking products from concept to design verification.
• Strong microwave/RF/analogue design and simulation skills.
• RF amplifiers, filters and synthesiser design experience.
• Familiar with OpenCPI, STICS or SOSA standards.
• Knowledge of radar/radio systems is advantageous.
• Ability to lead a small team is a plus.

Hybrid - 3 days a week from our offices south of Cambridge

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced senior RF electronics engineer to join the team, possessing the experience necessary to play a key role in designing, building and testing new RF-based systems and products. In addition to the technical skills necessary, you will be comfortable explaining complex technical matters to non-technical customers.

The role provides the opportunity to use your technical skills to work with a team to follow exciting new ideas through from concept into reality. You will have the satisfaction of working with a supportive and experienced team of subject matter experts, in a state-of-the-art electronics lab containing the latest test and measurement equipment (spectrum/network analysis/anechoic chambers).

Key desired skills and experience

• 6+ years post‑graduate experience in designing RF‑based circuits (e.g. for radios and/or radars).
• Experience developing products and modules from concept through to successful design verification.
• Good microwave, RF and analogue design and simulation skills. RF amplifier, filter and frequency synthesiser design.
• Experience of relevant open architecture standards such as OpenCPI, STICS or SOSA
• Advantageous but not essential:
