Salary: Up to £42k FTE (£25.2k actual), 16.8 days holidays plus statutory holidays, and benefit package

Role Purpose:

As a Reward Specialist within Pets at Home, you'll be at the core of shaping our dynamic reward strategies, ensuring they align with our mission to create a better world for pets and the people who love them. This role is integral to building the world’s best pet care platform by ensuring our compensation and benefit trends resonate with market standards and enhance colleague satisfaction.

You’ll partner closely with People Business Partners and line managers, providing expert advice and insights on all matters relating to reward, upskilling our People team and managers, thus elevating Pets at Home’s position as an employer of choice.

What you’ll be doing:

Reward Programmes

  • Coordinating and managing the annual business as usual reward processes such as pay reviews, bonus payments, share grant and vests and Annual Report. Ensuring all reward-related transactions are processed accurately and promptly, reinforcing trust and satisfaction among colleagues. Leading on projects aligned to Reward priorities.

Market Research and Benchmarking

  • Conducting comprehensive market research to unearth the latest compensation trends and best practices, ensuring our rewards are not only competitive but also industry leading. Assisting in benchmarking of salaries and benefits and interpretation of these findings, a critical exercise in attracting and retaining top talent within the pet care industry. Engaging in and occasionally leading job evaluation panels and assessments and effectively communicate assessment outcomes to key stakeholders.

Compensation Analysis

  • Analysing and interpreting compensation data to inform strategic decision-making and programme development, ensuring clarity and precision in reporting. Preparing insightful reports and presentations which highlight key trends and insights in compensation, supporting transparent communication to stakeholders.

Policy, Governance and Compliance

  • Contributing to the creation and rollout of comprehensive reward policies, governance and procedures, ensuring they align with organisational goals and regulatory standards. Maintaining adherence to relevant regulations and organisational standards, safeguarding our integrity and reliability in reward / remuneration practices.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Becoming a Trusted Advisor: Providing expert guidance to People Partners, line managers and wider People team on all reward matters, enhancing internal communication and understanding. Engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders and present to senior stakeholders as required. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Payroll, People Services, Centres of Expertise, and AI team to leverage their expertise and build efficiencies in our way of working, fostering strong working relationships to drive innovative solutions for the Reward team. Addressing and resolving all queries related to compensation and benefits, promoting a supportive and informed workplace culture.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance reward processes and practices, advocating for continuous improvement and innovation. Contributing to strategic projects aimed at elevating the effectiveness of our reward programmes, ensuring they remain relevant and value-adding.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Expertise

  • Proven experience in reward specialist roles within the HR or reward management (experience in the retail and/or veterinary sectors or in a PLC environment would be highly desirable)
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret complex data clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
  • Experience of working with WTW benchmarking (desirable)
  • Experience of working with SuccessFactors (desirable)
  • Relevant qualifications or working towards them, such as CIPD or WorldatWork.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in HR or reward management.
