Overview

Job Title: Revenues Officer (Remote) for Local Authority

Location: Remote

Contract: 3 to 6 months contract (temporary)

Rate: £32.11 per hour (umbrella)

Team: Revenues Billing Team

This Council is seeking an experienced Revenues Officer to join our Revenues Billing Team on a temporary 5-week contract. The postholder will have primary responsibility for the accurate billing and collection of council tax, ensuring accounts are updated in line with legislation and Council policies.

This role is fully remote and requires someone who can work independently, manage their workload effectively, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately establish council tax liability, including entitlement to discounts, reliefs, and exemptions.
  • Update accounts, apply and award discounts, reliefs, and exemptions in accordance with current legislation and Council policy.
  • Ensure the effective billing and collection of council tax.
  • Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service to all service users, fairly and without discrimination.
  • Work to set performance targets and deadlines, ensuring accuracy and compliance at all times.
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience using Academy revenues system.
  • Must have experience working as a revenues officer within the Local Authority to be considered
  • Proven experience within a revenues billing environment.
  • Strong ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and working knowledge of relevant council tax legislation and policy.
Desirable Criteria
  • Previous experience of using One EDMS document management system.
  • Knowledge of wider local taxation processes.
