A local government authority in Selby is seeking an experienced system administrator to support the Revenues & Welfare Benefits services. You will play a key role in maintaining processes and contributing to a project that consolidates service systems. Strong IT skills and problem-solving abilities are essential. The role offers a competitive salary and benefits including a local government pension scheme and employee discounts.

Our Service
The Revenues and Welfare & Benefits services form part of the larger customer focused Customer, Revenues & Welfare and Benefits service. The Revenues service has a clear purpose to deliver the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates due to the local authority to enable it to deliver services to residents. The Welfare & Benefits service has a clear purpose to deliver and be responsible for administering Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support scheme in accordance with Government legislation, case law and local policy and in doing so, contribute to the provision of financial support for the most vulnerable members of the community.
The Revenues & Benefits Control team are responsible for ensuring that all business critical processes are scheduled and performed on the council’s systems. These include but are not restricted to the annual billing debit raising process, debt recovery processes, housing benefit payment runs, direct debit maintenance & approaches, council tax and business rate daily calculation and bill production, calculation and upload of council tax reduction and processing of ATLAS files.
The role
Reporting to the Revenues & Benefits Senior Control Officer contributing to a team of officers to ensure the bulk processes and printing of documents requirements at the heart of the Revenues and Welfare & benefits service areas are maintained and support service delivery.
The teams are currently undertaking an ambitious project to consolidate the seven legacy area instances of the services systems and this role will be key to the success of that in shaping the way the systems are used by the consolidated service.
What you will bring
You should be an experienced system administrator with ideally knowledge of the legislative background and practical administration of the Revenues & Welfare Benefits services though this is not essential as full training can be provided. You will be an effective communicator, with strong IT skills, be accurate, be a problem solver, meticulous and customer focussed.
