  • Reconcile banking reports and investigate unallocated payments.
  • Handle incoming enquiries via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
  • Assist in tracing debtors and processing refunds.

Skills

Knowledge of billing, recovery and invoicing systems for Council Tax and Business Rates
Understanding of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, and the Welfare Reform Act 2012
Good IT skills, including the use of Word, Excel, and departmental systems
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Ability to manage workloads independently and as part of a team

Are you an experienced Revenues professional with a background in billing, invoicing, and recovery? Join a team based in Stoke-on-Trent as a Revenues Assistant to support the collection and administration of Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debts. THE ROLE
As a Revenues Assistant, you will play a key role in the effective billing and collection of Council Tax, Business Rates, and Sundry Debts for the local authority.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update Council Tax, Business Rates, and Sundry Debt accounts
  • Process changes to accounts including exemptions, reliefs, and payment methods
  • Reconcile banking reports, investigate unallocated payments, and take card payments
  • Handle incoming enquiries via telephone, email, and written correspondence
  • Assist in tracing debtors, processing refunds, and submitting debts for write-off
  • Promote online services and assist residents in managing their accounts digitally
  • Support the identification and prevention of fraudulent activity
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in a similar Revenues role within a Local Authority or equivalent environment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Knowledge of billing, recovery and invoicing systems for Council Tax and Business Rates
  • Understanding of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, and the Welfare Reform Act 2012
  • Good IT skills, including the use of Word, Excel, and departmental systems
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a customer-focused approach
  • Ability to manage workloads independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure setting
THE CONTRACT
Hours: Full time 37 hours Monday-Friday
Length of Contract: 3 Month Contract, Temp with potential for extension
Rate: £25.00 per hour LTD / £21.45 per hour PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)
