Job description

Job Description

Permanent (4 vacancies)

Ref: F1029

The Revenues and Benefits Service provides the statutory functions of collecting Council Tax and Business Rates, alongside administering applications for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.

Following a review of the Service, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Revenues and Benefits Team. The Council are seeking four customer focused individuals who will be able to help us deliver the Service in a new way by working across all the areas that we deliver to residents.

You will have good written and verbal communication skills and should be able to communicate with a wide range of people. You should have patience with customers and good listening skills that can be used to resolve residents’ queries. You will have the ability to complete tasks in a pressurised environment and work with little supervision.

You will be required to work on a wide range of tasks including the processing of Housing Benefit applications, Council Tax Support applications and the collection of Council Tax and Business Rates.

In return, the Service will offer full training, access to flexible working (including hybrid working) and the opportunity to study for professional qualifications in Revenues and Benefits with the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation.

While previous experience in a similar role is desirable, we welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a strong willingness to learn.

A Standard check will be undertaken with the Disclosure and Barring Service to ensure that the successful candidate has no relevant convictions.

The deadline for applications will be midnight on the closing date shown in the advert details.
