Revenue Controller & Biller (Crime Team) - Leading Multi-disciplinary Barristers’ Chambers, GRL LEGAL

Our client is a large and dynamic Barristers' Chambers with a dedicated team providing clerking, financial, marketing, and administrative support for over 190 barristers. They specialise in human rights and social welfare law, including crime, family law, housing, immigration, and civil law. Located in a Grade 1 listed building in Lincoln's Inn Fields, near Holborn tube station, the Chambers seeks an experienced Billing Clerk from the legal industry to join their Revenue Control Team. The role involves accurate billing, meeting operational requirements, and delivering high customer service levels.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Barristers to implement practice changes and enhance the use of Case Management software for prompt billing and improved debt recovery.

Duties include:
  • Efficient and accurate billing to maximise claim levels and turnaround times
  • Resolving queries professionally and promptly
  • Appealing assessments and incorrect decisions
  • Advising barristers on effective billing methods
  • Highlighting potential issues to the Head of Revenue
  • Identifying continuous improvement areas in billing
  • Participating in departmental meetings and proposing initiatives
  • Supporting Credit Controllers as needed
Person Specification:
  • Knowledge of criminal legal aid billing
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Confidence in making telephone calls
  • Good systems knowledge, especially Case Management systems
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and information assimilation
  • Positive attitude and team player
