As we grow, we offer a continuously evolving and tailored range of services, allowing individuals to learn and develop their skills with ongoing support.

This role is suitable for someone with experience working on DB pensions within an actuarial capacity. Mercer also offers full study support for relevant examinations.

What can you expect?

  • Check and review complex calculations and communicate results to consultants and support teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through knowledge sharing, training, and process initiatives.
  • Develop expertise in Excel, VBA, and Mercer’s in-house technology for high-quality IT and product development.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver streamlined services.
  • Manage and support junior colleagues within the GMP Equalisation team, including performance reviews and training.
  • Support various consulting aspects of GMP projects with direct client contact.

What is in it for you:

  • Exceptional training and development opportunities.
  • A challenging, friendly, and diverse work environment.
  • Competitive salary with flexible working arrangements, including remote work.
  • Funding for professional exams and qualifications.
  • Career development opportunities across a wide range of services.
  • 25 days holiday, with options to buy or sell additional days.
  • Comprehensive benefits including pension, private medical insurance, income protection, and discounts.

What you need to have:

  • Degree in a numerical or semi-numerical field.
  • Qualified or part-qualified actuary.
  • Understanding of UK Defined Benefit pension schemes and benefit calculations.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
  • Teamwork and collaborative skills.
  • Attention to detail and IT proficiency, especially in Excel.

What will make you stand out:

  • Experience in an actuarial role within pensions, especially in technical calculations and client support.
  • Experience with GMP Rectification and Equalisation projects.
