Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is seeking a Waste Champion at Westquay Shopping Centre, Southampton to support sustainability and operational objectives through waste and recycling management in public and back-of-house areas.

Full training provided. The role is 40 hours per week, permanent, based at Westquay, with a strong focus on retailer engagement and delivering waste targets.

Qualifications

• Previous waste experience is essential.
• Ability to communicate and read basic English.
• Flexible, open, honest, self-driven and determined.
• Reliable and hardworking with a professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Maintain service yards and waste handling areas to high standards.
• Engage retailers to improve recycling performance.
• Support safe operations around waste equipment and report defects.
• Reduce waste in back-of-house areas and ensure correct segregation.
• Cooperate with security and cleaning teams to manage congestion and access.
• Act as point of contact for retailers regarding waste and recycling.
