Retail store assistant (with keyholder responsibility)

£12.21 per hour plus benefits

Reports to: Shop manager

Department: Trading

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 6 – Sundays only

Location: Seaford

Closing date: Sunday 1st June 23:55. This vacancy may close earlier if a high volume of applications is received or once a suitable candidate is found.

Role overview: We’re seeking a motivated retail assistant to join Cancer Research UK’s trading team. You’ll act as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK and take responsibility for the shop on a Sunday. You’ll be supported by a dedicated team of volunteers and work towards achieving sales and fundraising targets.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Oversee shop operations on Sundays, including keyholder duties (training provided), and support volunteers.
  2. Assist the team in meeting sales and fundraising goals.
  3. Review and process donated goods and stock.
  4. Contribute creative ideas for generating income, with guidance from the Shop Manager.
  5. Provide excellent customer service to ensure supporters and customers feel welcome.
  6. Maintain shop standards regarding safeguarding, compliance, and health and safety.
  7. Perform manual handling and physical activities as part of daily duties.

Candidate requirements:

  • Knowledge of excellent customer service practices.
  • Experience working in a lively, vibrant environment.
  • Adaptability to changing situations; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis, balancing work needs with personal life.
