£12.21 per hour plus benefits

Reports to: Shop manager

Department: Trading

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 6 – Sundays only

Location: Gosport Shop

Role overview: We’re seeking a motivated retail assistant to join our trading team, acting as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK and taking responsibility for the shop on Sundays.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the shop operations on Sundays, including keyholder responsibilities (training provided) and supporting volunteers.
  • Assisting the team in achieving sales and fundraising targets.
  • Reviewing and processing donated goods and new stock.
  • Generating creative ideas to increase income, with guidance from the Shop Manager.
  • Providing excellent customer service to make supporters feel welcome and appreciated.
  • Maintaining shop standards regarding safeguarding, compliance, and health and safety.
  • Performing manual handling and physical activities as part of daily duties.

Candidate requirements:

  • Knowledge of excellent customer service principles.
  • Experience working in lively, vibrant environments.
  • Adaptability to changing situations, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis, understanding the importance of work-life balance.
