Retail Store Manager

£26,259 - £30,804 plus benefits

Reports to: Area Manager

Department: Trading

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week

Location: Wells

Role overview: We’re seeking a motivating Store Manager to join our trading team. You’ll act as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, motivating your team to maximize sales and fundraising targets. Your store will be a community hub where people learn about our work and see the impact we make. You’ll be surrounded by dedicated colleagues committed to beating cancer.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Guide, inspire, and engage a team of paid staff and volunteers, including recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse team.
  2. Take ownership of the store's commercial operations, including display, merchandising, stock management, maintaining standards, store layout, sales, and income.
  3. Lead by example, providing excellent customer and supporter service.
  4. Maximize profit through effective cost control and sales strategies.
  5. Build relationships with the local community and Cancer Research UK colleagues.
  6. Organize and run creative fundraising events to meet targets.
  7. Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration, and HR policies.
  8. Perform manual handling and physical activities as part of daily duties.

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience in managing and inspiring diverse teams.
  • Comfort working within targets and motivating others to achieve them.
  • Ability to multi-task in a lively environment.
  • Knowledge of excellent customer service principles.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of high street fashion retail.
  • Adaptability to changing situations and ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of price, value, and item worth.
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis, balancing business needs with personal life.
