Retail store assistant (with keyholder responsibility)

£12.21 per hour plus benefits

Reports to: Shop manager

Department: Trading

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 6 – Sundays only

Location: Maidstone

Role overview: We’re seeking a motivated retail assistant to join our trading team, acting as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK and taking responsibility for the shop on Sundays.

Key responsibilities:

• Overseeing the shop on Sundays, including keyholder responsibilities (training provided), and supporting volunteers.
• Helping the team achieve sales and fundraising targets.
• Reviewing and processing donated goods and stock.
• Generating new income ideas with guidance from the Shop Manager.
• Providing excellent customer service to ensure supporters feel welcome.
• Maintaining shop standards regarding safeguarding, compliance, and health & safety.
• Performing manual handling and physical activities as part of daily duties.

Candidate requirements:

• Experience in delivering great customer service.
• Experience working in a lively environment.
• Adaptability and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commercial awareness.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Flexibility to work on a rota basis, balancing work and personal life.
