Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services seeks a Retail Security Officer for B&Q stores in Northampton and Milton Keynes. This relief position covers sick leave and annual leave, offering practical security experience and a thorough induction.

You will deter theft, use CCTV/EAS systems, and work with the security team to investigate incidents while maintaining a safe environment for customers and staff. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Door Supervision or Security Guarding License.
• Five-year checkable employment history or documentary evidence of any period of unemployment, self-employment, or education.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visual deterrent on the shop floor.
• Safely detain offenders following H&S training.
• Utilize store security systems, including CCTV and EAS gates.
• Collaborate with covert security operatives.
• Investigate losses and support inquiries about known offenders.
• Complete accurate incident reports and company documentation.
• Report crime incidents using a company-provided tablet.
• Conduct routine patrols to ensure customer safety.
• Record patrols in daily activity sheets.
• Provide security updates during store briefings.
• Conduct shift handovers to ensure service continuity.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all.

Location: B&Q Northampton & Milton Keynes

Position: Security Officer

Pay: £12.91 per hour

Shifts: Day shifts only (Up to 9 hour a day between the hours of 8am – 8pm Monday – Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays)
