Job Description:

Hello, we’re Starling. We built a new kind of bank because we knew technology had the power to help people save, spend and manage their money in a new and transformative way. We’re a fully licensed UK bank with the culture and spirit of a fast-moving, disruptive tech company. We’re a bank, but better: fairer, easier to use and designed to demystify money for everyone. We employ more than 3,000 people across our London, Southampton, Cardiff and Manchester offices.

What you’ll get to do

This is a critical and high profile role, responsible for executing Starling’s retail strategy and nurturing a culture of customer centricity, creativity and innovation.

As the Bank’s Retail Product Lead you will:

  • Work closely with Compliance and Legal to ensure that new retail products or any changes made to existing retail products meet regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Lead product design and governance processes and deliverables such as Fair Value assessments, Product Customer Journeys and risk assessments.
  • Conduct regular product reviews in order to identify areas for improvement. Working alongside the relevant business areas, ensure that improvement actions are followed through to completion.
  • Have a strong relationship with the Product and Engineering Teams to help prioritise improvements that will enhance the customer journey and mitigate risk.
  • Manage a team of Retail Product Specialists including through setting clear objectives and supporting development.
  • Be responsible for keeping abreast with market trends, competitor activity and regulatory/legal changes which may impact the retail proposition.
  • Lead ongoing monitoring of the Bank’s product and develop the Bank’s Product MI. You will help to establish new product performance metrics, define triggers and monitor these on an ongoing basis to ensure the product is delivering good customer outcomes.

Requirements

  • Significant experience of retail products (either assets or liabilities).
  • Understanding of customer needs and challenges in a financial services organisation, with past experience within Financial Services a must.
  • Experience of leading product development, governance and monitoring.
  • Experience in collaborating effectively across a variety of business areas and ability to interact effectively with all levels.
  • Analytical and critical thinking, with the ability to take a problem solving approach and to analyse information and situations and generate recommendations and solutions.
  • High level of integrity, energy and sense of urgency to make things happen.
  • Proven track record engaging with senior Executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to manage relationships and drive positive change to enhance the customer journey and retail product proposition.
  • Flexibility to work in ambiguous situations and support customer and business priorities.
  • Numerate individual who is comfortable analysing and interpreting data - past experience of using Google’s Looker tool would be advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of media (written and verbal) to a wide range of audiences - customer, stakeholders, external bodies.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • 25 days holiday (plus take your public holiday allowance whenever works best for you)
  • An extra day’s holiday for your birthday
  • Annual leave is increased with length of service, and you can choose to buy or sell up to five extra days off
  • 16 hours paid volunteering time a year
