As Deputy Manager, you will work in collaboration with the Store Manager to maximise profit, lead the team, deliver seamless operations, and ensure the success of our store.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review sales, operations, and digital performance weekly to identify priorities and drive improvement actions.
- Focus on delivering great availability and cost controls through excellent processes.
- Create a culture of selling and saving to maximise store sales and profit.
- Deliver on all KPIs.
- Support the Store Manager with Talking Shop initiatives.
- Drive team engagement through effective communication, appreciation, and respect.
- Foster an inclusive culture where everyone can excel at work.
- Upskill the team using resources, development options, and on-the-job coaching.
- Manage team performance effectively through ongoing conversations.
Doing the right processes and doing them right:
- Complete daily store walks to focus on customer experience and take relevant actions.
- Model proactive service in-store and at the doorstep.
- Implement cash handling and security policies fully.
- Ensure digital service standards are met through the team.
- Maintain legal compliance to minimise risks.
- Implement health and safety policies fully to keep teams and customers safe.
Leadership:
- Lead by example to motivate the team and provide excellent service.
- Be approachable and respectful to customers and colleagues.
- Work with enthusiasm and reduce waste.
- Take responsibility for store operations, colleagues, and customers in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Communicate effectively and listen actively.
- Plan and prioritise tasks proactively.
- Set team pace by being hands-on.
- Solve problems with sound decisions.
- Coach the team to improve performance.
- Delegate tasks appropriately.
- Motivate the team to uphold operational standards.

- Proven retail management experience.
