Job description

We identify and shape places that create opportunity, enhance quality of life, and bring joy to the people connected to them. This is how we’ve created the UK’s leading portfolio of urban places and one of the largest real estate companies in Europe.

Our £10 billion portfolio is built around premium workplaces, the country’s pre-eminent retail platform, and a residential pipeline that will redefine urban life. We’ve honed this ability over 80 years. Spotting the opportunities, building the partnerships, and continually adapting to shape the places that meet the needs of a changing world. Places where life happens. Where businesses grow. And where cities are defined.

LOCATION

The role will be based at Brighton Marina. There will be the need for occasional travel to other sites around the country and London Victoria as and when required.

This role is contracted for 21 hours per week to be worked a minimum of 3 days over 7 per week.

THE TEAM

You'll join a small but ambitious team at Brighton Marina, working directly alongside the Centre Director to deliver the operational, commercial and guest experience objectives of the destination.

While the Landsec on-site team is intentionally lean, the role works closely with a full suite of specialist Elevate service partners responsible for security, cleaning, technical services, landscaping and wider operational delivery. Success is achieved through strong collaboration, influence and partnership working rather than direct line management.

The successful candidate will also work closely with fellow landowners, occupiers and key stakeholders across the Marina, helping to support the continued growth and evolution of this unique mixed‑use destination.

THE ROLE

Brighton Marina is a unique mixed‑use destination on the South Coast, combining retail, leisure, hospitality and community spaces within a vibrant waterfront setting.

As Retail Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for occupiers, building strong relationships across the destination while championing an exceptional guest experience. Working closely with retailers, leisure operators, service partners and the centre management team, you will support trading performance, occupier engagement and destination activation to help Brighton Marina thrive.

What Makes This Role Different?
  • Play a key role in shaping the occupier and guest experience at one of the South Coast's most diverse destination assets.
  • Build strong relationships with retail, leisure and hospitality operators while supporting their success and growth.
  • Influence guest experience, occupier engagement, events and community initiatives across the destination.
  • Enjoy a flexible 21‑hour working pattern with genuine autonomy and variety.
  • Join Brighton Marina during an exciting period of growth, helping to shape a newly created role with real visibility and impact.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Act as the primary point of contact for occupiers, developing strong and effective working relationships across retail, leisure, food and beverage operators.
  • Undertake regular occupier visits to understand trading performance, operational challenges, guest feedback and future opportunities.
  • Support occupiers in identifying opportunities to improve trading performance and enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintain regular communication with occupiers regarding centre initiatives, marketing activity, events, operational updates and business performance.
  • Coordinate and respond to occupier enquiries, ensuring issues are resolved effectively and relationships remain positive and collaborative.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date contact information for occupiers, including store managers, regional managers and head office contacts.
  • Facilitate occupier meetings, forums and engagement sessions, encouraging collaboration, feedback and participation.
  • Collate, analyse and report on occupier sales performance, identifying key growth opportunities and emerging risks.
  • Produce regular trading reports and performance updates for the Centre Management Team.
  • Identify trends, opportunities and risks affecting occupier performance and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain awareness of competitor destinations and local market trends to support business planning and retailer engagement.
  • Champion a guest‑first culture across Brighton Marina, ensuring the visitor experience remains central to centre decision making
  • Monitor guest feedback, reviews and service trends, identifying opportunities to improve satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Lead the induction of new occupiers and store managers, ensuring understanding of centre standards, operational requirements and company expectations.
  • Develop and facilitate relevant training, workshops and business development opportunities for occupiers.
  • Support occupier compliance with centre regulations, operational procedures and lease obligations, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager and service delivery partners to ensure high standards of presentation and service across the destination.
  • Support duty management responsibilities, including weekends and special events on a rota basis.
  • Support the development of relationships with local businesses, schools, charities and community organisations.
  • Encourage occupier participation in community initiatives and destination events
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of occupiers, stakeholders and partners.
