Job Purpose

An opportunity has arisen to join a critical team of support staff within Betfred to assist with developing a wide variety of in-house projects for the Retail channel of the business.

Responsible for implementing sections of functionality or making updates to existing features, ensuring that they are delivered on time with the correct approach, and to the standards defined by the development leads.

Our tech stack includes some of the latest design patterns and tools as well as established tech that needs additional features building on. For example, SQL, the Microsoft Azure stack, messaging services, C# Windows Services, WebAPI - all used to build a groundbreaking platform that has integration to internal and external services.

Primarily the role will involve working with the UK team to develop their in-house screen system technology while actively supporting any issues the US business team may find. You may also be required to assist the rest of the team with a wide variety of development projects.

The successful candidate will show drive, bring a raft of ideas and enthusiasm to a fast-paced environment, and be willing to work hard to deliver to a high standard.

Job Duties

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications using C# and other technologies

  • Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code that meets the requirements of the project

  • Debug and resolve software issues, including fixing bugs and optimizing performance

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Designers, Testers, and Project Managers, to deliver high-quality software

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers

  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and programming languages, and apply this knowledge to improve software development processes

  • Document software design, code, and test procedures

  • Participate in the estimation of software development projects

  • Participate in customer and end-user interactions to gather requirements and provide support

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including user manuals and help systems

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essentials

The successful candidate will have a degree in Computer science or a related software development principle as well as at least 2 years of industry experience in the following:

  • C# .Net 8

  • HTML / CSS / JavaScript

  • SQL

  • GIT

  • Exposure to Cloud environments (Azure / AWS.)

  • A good grounding in C# OOP programming

  • Keen attention to detail is a must for thorough testing of your work

  • Demonstrable experience of building Web Services and REST API’s

  • Knowledge of relevant design patterns

  • Expertise in performance optimisation

  • Experience of Unit and functional testing is important

  • Source Control, must be confident using Git for all roles

  • An excellent communicator, both verbal and written

  • Hard working and willing to go above and beyond learning new skills

  • Love working as part of a team and collaborating with others

  • An interest in troubleshooting and problem-solving

  • Participate in releases, and/or out-of-hours on-call availability as needed

Desirables:

  • Experience with Raspberry Pi's

  • Exposure to Linux/Debian

  • Experience in creating responsive GUIs.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

  • Microsoft Blazor.

  • ReactJs.

  • XUnit testing.

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.

  • A degree in Computer Science

  • Azure certification
