Job Overview

Responsible for the creation and execution of assigned concepts in a fast-paced environment with a passion for innovative retail design. The Store Design Manager drives the creative process from direction given by Executive Management, working closely with the Head of the Retail Design, to establish operational needs and develop store environments that meet capacity constraints, cost expectations, and delivers on the brand’s vision. Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams at various levels with outstanding project management and exceptional communication skills.

What You Will Achieve

  • Develop new conceptual designs for assigned concept based on Executive Management.
  • Create presentation packages as needed to communicate new or revised designs for assigned concepts.
  • Partner with Corporate Operations and Merchant teams to ensure new designs meet corporate objectives. Continually stay abreast of retail trends and materials and present to Head of the Design for consideration.
  • Manage corporate sign offs for Corporate Operations team. Gather and present changing needs of corporate partners to Head of Design for review and incorporation into approved concepts.
  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders during production of comprehensive design development packages. Develop new or revised fixture designs based on operational needs and present to Head of Design for approval.
  • Partner with the purchasing and construction team to evaluate concepts as needed, review and approve fixture prototypes, and assess new store and remodel construction.
  • Visit job sites as needed to ensure concept standards are being met and partner with Construction Project Managers to refine details as needed. Review and approve flagship shop layouts and changes as needed.
  • Drive and create Schematic Design Packages. Archive completed drawings, red lines, and shop drawings.
  • Develop professional skill set through computer software (3d rendering) and management training seminars and classes.
  • Regional resource development. According to the POP MART business and retail design team needs, develop regional resources- externally (expand and maintain a pool of design vendors) and internally (identify, hire and manage extra team members).

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design or equivalent 8 years’ experience in retail design, with more 4 years' team management.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in coordinating with cross-functional teams including marketing, product development, and engineering.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Be able to proactively approach to identifying and solving design challenges.
  • Must have strong communication skills
