Retail Assistant 6587

Location: Stroud
Hours: Part-Time – Flexible, Multi-Site Working
Salary: £12.21

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the day-to-day running of a retail shop within a cluster group, including occasionally running a shop independently and reporting to a remote manager.
  • Open and close the shop, acting as a key holder.
  • Support the recruitment, supervision, and motivation of volunteers, fostering a positive team environment.
  • Manage stock levels, visual merchandising, pricing adjustments, and prepare suitable goods for online sales.
  • Monitor and achieve sales targets, share insights on trends, and promote Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers, volunteers, and staff.
  • Accurately handle cash, banking, till operations, and use systems (e.g. Eproductive) for stock control, reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Trading Standards, Safeguarding, and company policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service, handle queries and complaints professionally, and promote the charity’s aims and objectives.
  • Work flexibly across multiple shop locations within the cluster, covering absences and peak trading times.
  • Assist with special events, seasonal promotions, and wider community engagement activities.
Key Skills

  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise in fast-paced environments.
  • Good IT literacy and confidence using retail systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and support volunteers.
