24 hours/week on a rota basis including Saturdays.

Do you enjoy working with people and supporting thecommunity? Providing a warm, welcoming and professional environment, youwill be assisting the Charity Shop Managers in the day to day running of ourcommunity charity shops in Tipton. Strong organisational and customerservice skills are essential and you will be comfortable with all aspects of aretail work to maximise shop income to its fullest potential, while supportingthe charitys aims and values.

To assist in the day to day running of the charity shops in an efficient and driven manner,maximising shop income to its fullest potential while supporting the charitys aims andvalues. To provide a warm, welcoming and professional environment.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

Provide exceptional customer service to all visitors and supportersProcess sales transactions accurately using the till system

Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and returns professionallyAssist customers in finding items and provide product informationBuild positive relationships with regular customers and donors

Store Operations

Open and close the store following established procedures

Maintain store security, including handling keys and alarm systemsEnsure the shop floor is well-presented, clean, and organised

Price donated items according to charity guidelines

Sort, clean, and prepare donated goods for sale

Manage stock rotation and remove items past their sale period

Saturday Management Duties

Take full operational responsibility for the store on Saturdays

Supervise and coordinate any volunteers working on the day

Make decisions regarding pricing, displays, and customer issues

Ensure health and safety standards are maintained

Complete daily sales reports and banking procedures

General Duties

Accept and process donations from the public

Maintain accurate records of sales and donations

Assist with window displays and store merchandising

Support fundraising events and promotional activities

Follow all charity policies and procedures

Undertake other duties as reasonably requested

Experience, Skills and Knowledge
  • Previous retail or customer service experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Cash handling experience and basic numeracy skills
  • Flexibility to work Saturdays and cover holiday periods
  • Commitment to the charity's values and mission
  • Physical ability to lift and move donated items
  • Experience working in a charity or voluntary sector environment
  • Knowledge of clothing, books, or household items
