A large part of our work is devoted to producing hard-hitting thought leadership research for our clients, including TikTok, Barclays, Amazon, Uber, NatWest, Vinted, and many others. Our unique approach and distribution platform enables our research to reach the right audience and make a real impact.

You’ll join a dynamic and highly collaborative team passionate about creating innovative and thought-provoking research. We foster a culture of innovation, professional growth, and disruption — and we’re proud to help our people thrive.

Role Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Retail Analyst to join our expert team. This full-time, hybrid role offers a balance between office-based collaboration (c. 2 days per week) and remote flexibility, with our primary office located in Central London, near Charing Cross.

As a Retail Analyst at Retail Economics, you will play a pivotal role in delivering actionable insights that influence strategic decisions for some of the world’s leading retail and consumer-facing brands. You will dive deep into retail data, analyse key market trends, and support clients with clear, concise reports and recommendations that address their unique challenges. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects that shape industry outcomes.

The role requires the candidate to use a blend of data analysis, report writing and story-telling to reveal unique insights on areas of consumer research. Examples could include the impact of social media, attitudes towards sustainability, or the cost of living crisis.

Successful applicants will be those who demonstrate the desire to embrace a hard work ethic, work in a fast-paced and demanding environment, who thrive on challenges and have an appetite for self-development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse retail market data to identify trends, performance drivers, and consumer behaviour patterns.
  • Produce unique insights tailored to client objectives.
  • Contribute to the production of thought leadership pieces, market reports, social content and presentations.
  • Monitor key market developments, including shifts in market sizes, inflationary pressures, and consumer sentiment.
  • Use of AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, NotebookLM, Synthsia and others to automate, enhance and scale output.
  • Support client meetings by presenting findings and responding to bespoke data requests.
What We Offer
  • Hybrid working flexibility: Work in a way that suits you, balancing home and office time.
  • Professional development: We invest in our team with training, industry events, and opportunities for personal growth.
  • Meaningful impact: Your insights will directly shape business strategies for leading organisations.
  • Innovative culture: Be part of a forward-thinking team that embraces new ideas and cutting-edge AI technologies.
  • Collaborative environment: Work with experts in economics, data science, and industry research in a supportive and inclusive setting.
  • Competitive benefits package: Including a competitive salary, pension scheme, and additional perks.
Qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data interpretation and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication abilities, with the confidence to present insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • A deep understanding of retail industry trends and sales performance drivers.
  • Proficiency in working with large datasets and conducting detailed analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably Masters’ degree) in Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience using data visualisation tools (such as Power BI or Tableau) is highly desirable.
  • Experience using AI tool and advanced prompt engineering skills is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-growing consultancy at the forefront of the retail and consumer landscape. If you are passionate about using data to make a tangible impact in the retail sector, we’d love to hear from you.
