Job summary

A leading NHS trust in Coventry seeks a motivated clinician to join their Major Trauma Service. Responsibilities include the reception and initial assessment of trauma patients, airway management, and support for the anaesthetist service. Ideal candidates should have a relevant anaesthetics qualification and experience in critical care or emergency nursing. Long shifts and education support are provided.

Qualifications

  • Suitable for an ODP, Adult Nurse (critical care or emergency nursing), or Paramedic with current experience.
  • Immunisation and vaccination report required from a UK occupational health provider or UK GP.

Responsibilities

  • Reception of major trauma patients in the ED Resus Department.
  • Initial assessment and stabilisation, including airway management.
  • Safe transfer for ongoing care.
  • Support the duty anaesthetist service.
  • Assist with invasive pain management system insertion.

Overview

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is an established Major Trauma Centre. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic clinician with appropriate qualifications and experience to join the Major Trauma Service within our ED resus trauma practitioner team. The role includes the reception of major trauma patients, initial assessment and stabilisation including airway management, and safe transfer for ongoing care. The resus practitioners also support the duty anaesthetist service, including supporting airway management in both adult and paediatric patients, assisting with invasive pain management system insertion and assisting massive haemorrhage protocol (MHP) transfusions across the wider hospital.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Role suitable for an ODP, Adult Nurse (critical care or emergency nursing) or Paramedic with a relevant anaesthetics qualification and/or current experience
  • Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from a UK occupational health provider or UK GP

Working pattern

The rotawill include long shifts, weekend and night work. The shift times are: 07:30-20:00, 19:30-08:00, and 12:00-00:30. Major trauma education and skill development will be fully supported within the role.
